Would you help?
There’s an old chant that goes: “Who took the cookies from the cookie jar; Who me? Yes you. Couldn’t be! Then who?” But it might go: “Who’ll help the children know Jesus Christ?……..Could it be YOU? We are always looking for volunteers to share their faith with kids in our religious education programs. Whether you are a parent, a grandparent, or a teen we can use your help. No experience is necessary; only a willingness to share your faith and a love of children. Our teacher manuals have pre-planned and engaging lessons. Our kids are terrific and you will be making sure that the next generation will grow up Catholic. Please call Kathie Armstrong (410-964-1425 x 325), if you can help.
The Archdiocese of Baltimore requires all volunteers to be STAND certified. For those working directly with children we request three references, a background check using your Social Security number, and training in how to identify child abuse and how to report suspected child abuse. This can all now be completed online by going to http://www.stjohnscolumbiamd.org/virtus-page/. To begin with you will “Signup” and create your own user name and password. If you need to return to the site you will just “Login”. If you are unable to do this from home, please make arrangements with the office at WLIFC to come in and complete the information there by calling Kathie(410-964-1425 x325).
